Who we are

"Help A Child To Study" Project is part of Somaiya Vidyavihar, Mumbai, India and is supported by The Godavari Sugar Mills Ltd., Sameerwadi, Karnataka. Somaiya Vidyavihar founded by Late Shri (Padmabhushan) Karamshi Jethabhai Somaiya in 1959, has 34 institutions on a 60-acre campus in central Mumbai. Vidyavihar provides value-based education to students in Engineering and Information Tech, Management, Vocational training etc. Samir Somaiya, Trustee of Somaiya Vidyavihar and Executive Director, The Godavari Sugar Mills Ltd., Started "Help A Child To Study" Project.

The Godavari Sugar Mills Ltd., promoted by Late Shri (Padmabhushan) Karamshi Jethabhai Somaiya and Dr. Shantilal K. Somaiya, was incorporated in 1939. Under the leadership of Shri Samir S. Somaiya, it manufactures Sugar, Power, Industrial Alcohol, Heavy Organic Chemicals, Bio-Fertilizers and has established KIAAR for Agriculture Research. It manufacturers more than twenty products from renewable resources, thereby forming an entire Value chain from Sugarcane to Sugar and other value added products like Power, Ethanol, Bio-Fertilizers etc.
